Joe and I are living in Italy right now, in a town outside of Milano. Joe has been here since June, and Kennedy and I arrived at the beginning of October.
Since then I've been working on my homemaking skills, which isn't easy in a foreign country. Food storage has been my main challenge, first because there are no closets and pantry's here, second because they don't have much of a selection, and third because I can't read what stuff is unless it's got a picture on the front...working on that though!
Joe works for a commercial airliner based out of Malpensa-Milano flying 767's. His schedule is a bit crazy, but he is adjusting. He usually goes out for a week or two at a time, but lately its only been for 3 or 4 days, which is nice for me. He is so patient with all that he has taken on in his life, and he is a wonderful husband and father.
Kennedy just turned 5, and she started Kindergarten as soon as we arrived. She loves it, but insists that she doesn't want to learn to speak Italian. She has quite a personality; For those of you who can remember how I was as a child, she's pretty much my clone in energy, other than she is about 3 octaves quieter than I ever was!!! She keeps us going, and she is a wonderful little girl. She tends to take things very literal. We have a rug of King Tut that was in our apartment when we got in it. She was asking Joe who it was, and he told her the story of him, how he had been murdered at 18 years old and then mummified. Kennedy's response was a freaked out reply of "They turned him into a carpet!" After he finished laughing he explained it all. She makes us laugh allot!!! Kids bring so much to a family don't they!
I look forward to hearing from everyone, and seeing pictures or checking out other blogs. If anyone has a trip planned to Italy let us know!
Ciao
